The Department of Mechanical Engineering gives degree programs and conducts research in the disciplines of engineering design, production methods for various materials, solid and fluid mechanics, and in their challenging application areas, such as marine technology. Marine Technology concentrates on ship structures and strength, Arctic technology, ship hydrodynamics and safety of marine traffic. Advanced ship structures is one of the key research topics of Marine Technology group. The personnel concentrating on the advanced marine structures consist of two professors and altogether eight Post-Docs and doctoral students.
