Tenure Track position in Real Estate Economics

Job description

The position is located in the Department of Built Environment, see http://builtenv.aalto.fi/en/. The research groups at the Department are Real Estate Economics, Spatial Planning and Transportation Engineering, Geoinformatics and Water and Environmental Engineering. The announced position is part of the Real Estate Economics group. Currently, the department has 22 professors, of which five in Real Estate Economics.

The department is seeking to appoint a full-time assistant, associate or full professor, to teach and conduct research in real estate economics. The ideal candidate will have expertise in real estate valuation. The person hired is expected to teach in Bacherlor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes and have potential to attract research funding from Finnish and international sources (e.g. Academy of Finland, European Union) .


Basic qualifications include a doctoral degree in real estate, economics or other relevant field. Applicants for appointment at the Assistant Professor level should have demonstrated potential to publish in top journals. Applicants at tenured levels should have an excellent academic record commensurate with the position.

Good communication skills in fluent spoken and written English is minimum requirement.

The applicants will be reviewed based on their research, teaching, academic leadership and activity in scientific community.

Throughout their careers, those in the academic tenure track system are expected to exercise and guide scientific research, to provide related higher academic education, to follow the advances of their field, to participate in service to the Aalto University community, and to take part in societal interaction and international collaboration in their field.
