Job description

The Hepatology Research Unit focuses on the pathogenesis of liver diseases and the identification of new therapeutic opportunities to treat these diseases. The proposed project focuses on the role of inflammation in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development and how we can target specific inflammatory pathways as therapy for HCC. The candidate will make use of human samples as well as in vivo and in vitro models to execute the different work packages in the project. The technologies that will be used include qRT-PCR, ELISA, Western blotting, luminex, flow cytometry…

We offer a PhD position for four years in an established well-organised research group with close collaboration between clinicians and scientists to perform high quality fundamental/translational research.

Profile of the candidate

  • You have recently obtained a Master of pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences, veterinary sciences, bioscience engineering or medicine.
  • You have a strong interest in liver disease.
  • You should have good communication and writing skills in English.
  • You should be able to work independently, as well as function as part of a team.
