The cancer research teams at Ghent University supervised by prof. dr. ir. Katleen De Preter (www.crig.ugent.be/en/prof-katleen-de-preter-phd) and prof. dr. Karim Varmaelen (www.crig.ugent.be/en/prof-karim-vermaelen-md-phd) have an open position for a highly motivated researcher with a keen interest in translational cancer research and basic knowledge of bio-informatics.
A new era of clinical care, so-called precision oncology is opening unprecedented potential for developing novel therapeutic strategies for cancer patients. The research of the translational bioinformatics group of prof. dr. ir. Katleen De Preter at UGent-Center for Medical Genetics (www.cmgg.be) is focused on the development of analytical and bio-informatic pipelines for diagnostic, prognostic and predictive analysis of tumors, enabling a more personalized and precise cancer medicine. In collaboration with prof. dr. Karim Vermaelen (founder of the ION network: www.crig.ugent.be/en/ion-immuno-oncology-network), a research project was recently started on the identification of new biomarkers for immunotherapy sensitivity in lung cancer patients. For this project, we are currently searching a highly motivated scientist.
You will work in a multidisciplinary environment under the supervision of senior scientists in cancer genomics, oncology, biomarker analysis and bioinformatics at Ghent University (Hospital) in the Center for Medical Genetics (cmgg.be) and within the broader framework of the Cancer Research Institute Ghent (crig.ugent.be) where you will implement and develop (new) genomic biomarkers for the identification of immunotherapy responsive lung cancer patients.
Applications including a CV and cover letter should be sent electronically to prof. Katleen De Preter (firstname.lastname@example.org). Top-ranked candidates will be invited for an interview (either skype or on site). Start date will be 1st of October 2019.
