Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) is a research organisation working to promote bioeconomy and sustainable use of natural resources. Our research results and services generate added value and sustainability as well as scientific evidence to support decision making. We carry out research on forestry, agriculture, food, game, and fisheries. We also perform statutory services. Natural Resources Institute Finland is one of the four Statistical Authorities in Finland.
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct research on business development linked to the amenity benefits of nature. This covers the traditional areas of nature-based tourism and outdoor recreation, but the research may also involve possibilities to develop sustainable products related to nature’s effect on human well-being linked to social and health care sectors.
The successful candidate holds a doctoral degree in a relevant field (business studies/economics, tourism business and marketing, entrepreneurial research) with some knowledge and experience of nature-based tourism and outdoor recreation. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to apply the appropriate quantitative and/or qualitative research methods to study sustainable business models and ecosystems in a multidisciplinary research team. Good collaboration skills for working in a multidisciplinary team are essential. We expect the candidate to be highly committed to science. The ability to conduct research independently and publish research results in peer-reviewed journals as well as skills in communicating the research results are required. She/he should have fluent written and oral communication skills in English.
The person to be appointed to the postdoctoral researcher position should have completed his/her doctoral degree within the past four years (excluding maternity leaves, parental leaves, or military service). A doctoral degree must be completed at the time of accepting the position. The vacancy is initially for 2 years with a possibility of 1 year continuation (2+1).
