The researchers duties will include research and development work with bio-material based eco-innovations and products in a multidisciplinary research group: analysis of the features of biological raw materials, ingredients and products prototypes (chemical, structural, and functional) with different analytical methods and techniques from the laboratory to demo scales.
The position is part of Lukes strategically significant research set, which is aimed at strengthening the research and development work with new biologically based eco-innovations and products.
Success in the position requires extensive and in-depth expertise in the features of raw materials and applied research of the same (chemical, structural and functional features).
The researcher (PhD) is required to have demonstrated strong research evidence of the characterisation and fractionation of biomasses. The applicant is required to have experience of chromatography and spectroscopy analysis methods and techniques, from the laboratory to the demo scale, such as quantitative and qualitative definitions of value compounds derived from forest and agro biomasses, including preliminary handling of samples, isolation of value compounds, further processing, testing, as well as tasks connected with method development. Success in the position requires successfully completed doctoral studies in chemistry and/or biochemistry/biology, strong experience of research tasks related to the position and the use and development work of the above mentioned methods, which has to be demonstrated through practical competence and evidence of corresponding projects in applied chemistry. The applicants earlier research evidence of applying materials technology and/or cell biology methods in research and development work with biomaterials will be considered an advantage. Good written and spoken English is also essential for success in the position. Experience of customer work and successful application of external funding will be considered an advantage.

In addition to the position-specific salary component, a salary component based on personal performance will be paid. It can be at most 50% of the position-specific salary component.
