The Department of Sociology, Environmental and Business Economics at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a position as associate professor in Marketing with a special focus on the quantitative analysis of consumer behavior. The position is located at the campus in Esbjerg and conveys tenure. The starting date of the position is December 1st, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Research in the Department is organized in three research groups, and the announced position will be part of the Research Group “Markets, Organization, and Behavior” and associated with the Energy Management Centre (EMC). The research approach of the research group is based on theoretically founded empirical analyses of the economic behavior of individuals, groups (e.g. households), or business enterprises. The research group has an interest in some specific markets and industries and their specific characteristics. These include energy, sports, media, event, tourism, and retailing markets. Applicants are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the strategies of and current activities within the research group, the center, and the department.
For this position, we welcome applicants with a Ph.D. degree in Business Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, or any related field. The successful applicants will have an academic background and research profile in the quantitative analysis of consumer behavior with a good record of research publications in respectable peer-reviewed journals. Books and/or book chapters by internationally recognized publishers will be considered too. A strong emphasis of past research and publication activities on the quantitative analysis of consumer behavior on energy markets will increase the likelihood of being assessed qualified and being considered relevant for the position, but is not necessary. Further it is advantageous to have existing collaborations, or an expanding network as this is an essential part of the strategy for the EMC.
The successful applicant is expected to participate in teaching activities as well as joint research activities within the area of the quantitative analysis of consumer behavior and energy marketing. We expect the successful applicant to actively engage in the further development of the research group and the center as well as to contribute positively to the Department as a whole. As senior scholar, the successful applicant is expected to contribute actively to the social and academic life at the Department as well as to participate actively in the guidance of doctoral students and junior faculty. Additionally, we expect active and constructive participation in the University's academic administration. To fulfill the requirements of the position, the candidate chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis.
The assessment will be based on the criteria laid out in this advertisement text as well as in the department’s qualification guidelines. Applicants are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the department’s qualification guidelines. Shortlisting and tests may be used in the assessment process.
