University Research Fellow in Information Systems Science

TURKU SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS, DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT AND ENTREPRENEURHIP INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF

UNIVERSITY RESEARCH FELLOW fixed term position, 1.3.2018–31.12.2021

The post is positioned in Information Systems Science at the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship.

The duties of University Research Fellow include conducting independent scientific research and demanding organisational responsibilities related to research and duties related to managing research groups. The University Research Fellow will conduct and supervise scientific research and conduct research-based teaching. The University Research Fellow is expected to be responsible of research resources and have the ability to take responsibilities in the subject area. The position also includes teaching in bachelors’, masters’, and doctorate level in addition to duties related to university administration.

In this particular position, applicants whose research is in the area of IT management and governance, and/or networked digital business, and/or digital futures profilation area (e.g. digital consumer behavior) and show research record on some of these areas in international co-operation have an additional advantage.

In addition, the University Research Fellow in this position is expected to bear responsibility for eBusiness Research in Europe and Asia (eBEREA) collaboration network and Global IT Management double degree English Master’s Programme with Central China Normal University on Business Intelligence and Knowledge Management. As aconsequence, the candidate is expected to illustrate good command of English to supervise MSc and PhD students and to bear responsibility in organizing and running PhD seminars and courses. In addition, practical experience in using and teaching advanced multivariate statistics research is required. Experience in raising funding for research and leading research teams is considered positive.

A person selected for this post of University Research Fellow is expected to have a doctoral degree and evidence of scientific research and necessary teaching skills. In addition, the ability to manage a research group and to obtain supplementary research funding is required. When assessing the merits of the applicants, special emphasis will be put on international research activities and evidence of international co-operation.

The qualification requirements of the position are described in the rules of procedure of the University of Turku.

The salary for the post is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. The task specific salary component for the University Research Fellow is 2,865.30 – 3851.33 euro per month (according to level 5–7 of the job demands chart). In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid. The personal work performance component is a maximum of 46.3 % of the task specific salary component.

The post is subject to a four month trial period.
